Fun, joy, laughter, creativity, tears, cooking, baking, diy, camping, friends, God, lego all over the floor, weeds taking over the allotment, trying to remember that happiness is an inside job...just the usual jizz jazz of life

Bargain :)
David and I have always really thought that you never really get a bargain on ebay...people seem to pay an awful lot of money, often pretty much the retail price, for things. But we have finally been proved wrong. I have been looking for a wooden baby gym for Henrik and found one on ebay, I duly but a bid on and to my surprise I won it at the great cost of £1.70 + £2.50 postage. It arrived today and it looks great.
As you do, I put the make of it into google and discovered that you can buy it for £45.25 + £3.95 postage. So for once we got a bargain.
Henrik has had a bit of a cold but he seems to be getting better. The last couple of nights he has actually slept quite well, not like over the weekend when he woke up every couple of hours. It was a gorgeous weather today and we went to the beach with the pooch.
David is helping with diy at church tonight. The church have got the building next to it and they have been doing it up since the new year to open a pregnancy advice centre there. The sign went up last week which was pretty exciting. David took with him a tin of flapjacks so he should be popular ;)

Birdspotting

We've got the bird feeders positioned so that I can see them while I am doing washing up. Mostly the visitors include sparrows, blackbirds, starlings and blue tits with the occasional robin finding it's way there. The sparrows treat it like a local takeaway, in the summer when their chicks were little they brought them along and lined them up on the fence and ferried the seeds to them.
Today I got very excited whilst scrubbing the porridge pan...there was a bird with bright red face and amazing yellow streaked wings! As I don't have a bird book and the only help I have for identifying birds is a tea towel - not the most comprehensive method I wasn't sure what it was but then with the help of google and Royal Society for the Protection of Birds website I was able to identify it as goldfinch.
On other notes, I haven't forgotten about Christmas and I'll sit down at some point and finish the Christmas updates. Henrik is growing, he was 4.9kg (10lb 12oz) and 61.5cm on Tuesday when he had his third set of injections, three all in total...he was not impressed. The first one he didn't mind but the next two...he was not a happy bunny!

Relevant news
"A giant cloud of hydrogen is racing towards a collision with the Milky Way, astronomers have announced. Smith's Cloud, as it is known, may set off spectacular fireworks when it smacks into our galaxy in 20-40 million years."

Christmas pics 2
We are well into the New Year and I still hasn't managed to finish the Christmas update...oh dear. Well here is part 2 of the story (more to follow still...)
So we got to Finland after Christmas, had some very stressful moments on the M25 that was very very slow but we got to Heathrow and didn't miss the flight - in fact we had one of the most relaxed flights we've ever had. Henrik behaved well on the plane, he grizzled couple of times but my worst nightmares of him crying for 2 hours solid didn't come true which is good.
We were in Helsinki first for couple of days and then went to the countryside to see my parents and half of my sisters. Most of the time in Helsinki we were seeing friends and relatives and didn't have time to potter around apart from the 30th which was our wedding anniversary (7th) and we kept completely free. WE had a nice day of wondering around Helsinki, dong some shopping and going out for a nice meal in a restaurant called Fabian.

Beginning of a Christmas update
So Christmas has been and gone and Henrik has had his first plane and train journeys. Two weeks seems to have just flown by. Henrik was a bit too young to get excited about presents or even the wrapping paper! But he got lots of cuddles and loving from everyone which he seemed to enjoy.
Our journey down from Newcastle to Steyning went well. We stopped for a pub lunch on the way down and had a pretty good journey regardless of the fog. We did the same on the way back and managed to find a little pub in a little place called Elkesley on the side of the A1. It was a random little place...definitely an experience especially as baba was quite tired and grizzly.
But the baba is grizzly now as well so I'll go and jig him and write more later.
